Shawn James returns to Ireland for two highly anticipated headlines in Button Factory

With roots in both classical music and opera, as well as the gospel choirs he sung with as a child, Shawn James' voice is a force to be reckoned with—a musical preacher to a flock that welcomes all. 

Shawn James, who was raised on Chicago's South Side and has a timeless sound influenced by blues greats like Son House and Robert Johnson, is always caught between damnation and salvation, the two of which are intricately interwoven in his compositions.

He first encountered the Pentecostal church in Chicago when he was a young boy. Even though he is no longer associated with any faith, singing in the church choir helped him hone his vocal skills.
